pipe organ
site-specific sound-sculpture 2014 I manipulated PVC-pipes, 3,5x2,5x1m
Schenkelsberg, Kassel
The form of this sculpture depicts an 'intervention' into the ground, from which hidden service pipes emerge. Their ubiquitous nature is
usually not consiously perceived, although they are essential for the functioning of modern communities. The pipes that stand out of the ground make the energy that
is so naturally flowing in the public interest not only visible, but also audible. The focus is not the invention of the form, but the 'capturing of forces' (Deleuze), which manifests in a
sculptural snapshot. Every pipe is manipulated - acoustically tuned in an analogous manner to an organ pipe - and only activated through the prevailing wind situation.
